The Nabire, like its fairly close cousin the Manokwari, originates from the far Western region of Papua and exhibits many of the same characteristics of the Manokwari. The small, quiet, coastal town of Nabire, of which this locality is named after, is nestled in the deepest part of Cenderawasih Bay and home to not only some of West Papua's most beautiful chondro bloodlines, but also some of the only hot springs you will find in the country. Nabires become light green adults highlighted with beautiful blue dorsal markings. Yellow clusters of speckles on adults are also not uncommon. Babies can be both red and yellow and like Sorongs, Nabires are extremely gentle, even at neonatal age! If you want a beautiful chondro that you can feel confident handling, the Nabire is a good bet!
